Poland shows strong interest in pigs.

Poland joined the European Union in May 2004, and surging exports to the EU contributed to Poland's strong growth in 2004. The Polish meat market was involved in this upward trend, investments in the meat industry and the number of meat-processing plants authorized for trade in the EU increased fourfold and tenfold respectively when compared to 2000-2001. Following such a significant boost to Poland economy, pig production shows evidence of a slight slowdown but remains a buoyant market.
