Full-detailed review on the excretion and transmission routes of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) describing the direct transmission (horizontal and vertical) and the indirect transmission routes. The latest are divided into distance-independent transmission routes including biological vectors (wild boars) and mechanical vectors (artificial insemination, swill feeding and illegal trade in animal products, livestock trucks, persons, pig slurry) and distance-dependent transmission routes including biological vectors (ruminants, pets and rodents, birds) and mechanical vectors (arthropods, other animals and airborne transmission).
