Classical swine fever virus strain 'C'. How long is it detectable after oral vaccination?

In Germany, oral immunization of wild boars against classical swine fever (CSF) has been successfully contributing to the control of the disease since 1992. In order to avoid any diagnostic confusion between infected and recently immunized wild boars, the persistent period of the vaccine virus (C-strain) in orally immunized animals was determined. The authors concluded that persistence of C-strain virus does not exceed 10-12 days after bait intake.
