Pathogenicity of three isolates of porcine respiratory coronavirus in the USA
Vet Record 2003 152: 358-361
Three American isolates of PRC (porcine respiratory coronavirus) were experimentally inoculated to SPF pigs in order to assess their pathogenicity. Isolates AR310, LEPP and 1894 were used to try to reproduce respiratory disease in pigs. Two of them (AR310 and LEPP) turned out to be more virulent as they induced moderate respiratory disease with multifocal bronchointerstitial pneumonia from 4 to 10 days. Only mild respiratory signs were observed in the other pigs infected with isolate 1894.
